In my mental health memoir Unfiltered, I invite people to my inner world of anxiety and depression, detailing how it has influenced various aspects of my life, including my emotions, thoughts, work, finances, relationships, and physical health. I cover multiple topics such as suicidality, psychiatric ward visits, substance abuse, fatigue, loss of interest and motivation, lack of pleasure in things, changes in weight and appetite, anxiety, guilt, low self-esteem, indecision, uncertainty, being on edge, loneliness, and what I think of stigma and stereotypes. I also share some important messages for people living with mental illness, as well as their spouses, friends, colleagues, employers, mental health authorities, and the ignorant. Furthermore, I share what I have learned, what has worked for me in the past, and the amazing things I would have missed if my suicide attempts were successful. It's real, it's raw, it's honest, and I hope that it can make a difference.
