'Modbury Tales' incorporates twelve short stories, one poem, multiple impressions of a summer in South Devon and photographs that replace a thousand words. It might be described by some as a 'mishmash' of different genres and that definition seems to sum it up very well. Nevertheless I am very fond of my 'mishmash' because hopefully it offers a little of interest for all ages.Few writers, at least as far as I am aware, have combined travel writing with short stories because no doubt they are considered to be different 'genres' and simply do not mix. Like oil and water. And so what better incentive does a particularly independent minded writer like myself need then to purposely swim against the stream of received opinion and do exactly that.
