English poems by Gerhard te Winkel, Netherlands Gerhard te Winkel (Netherlands, b. Arnhem, 1964) studied history and philosophy at Utrecht University. He worked for national, regional, and local media. He was a reporter for radio, television, and print media. He was an editor, created newspapers and websites. He served on the editorial boards of several magazines. In 2015, he was appointed City Poet Laureate of Leusden. In this role, he developed the "Parade of Poets" project for the province of Utrecht in collaboration with the Utrecht City Poets Guild. For the municipality of Amersfoort, he created the poetry performance "Souvenir van een vlucht" (Souvenir of a Flight), together with Syrian musicians such as Jawa Manla and Lotte Dodion, city poet of Antwerp. Te Winkel published the poetry collections "Wolkentaal" (Cloud Language) and "Het duister aan de andere kant, gedichten over oorlog" (The Darkness on the Other Side, Poems about War). He co-authored the collection "Zomerzotjes, Gesture in Love" with Amy de la Haye. He has been published in more than twenty anthologies. Together with Veronique Hogervorst, he created the poetry video "Tonggloei van onder een stugge tong" (Tongue Glow from Under a Stiff Tongue). In 2015, Gerhard te Winkel became the Dutch champion of Dobbelslam. Daan Doesborgh won the jury prize. In cooperation with Hans van den Pol and Bettina Drion, he developed the lecture: "The Angel and the Eagle, the Darkness on the Other Side, Right and Wrong in the War." The lecture was given in Camp Amersfoort, among other places. It combined prose pieces from "The Angel and the Eagle" and poetry from "The Darkness on the Other Side." Te Winkel was editor of Poeziƫpunt GL. Together with Hannie Rouweler, he co-authored the anthology "You Tap It and It Sings, New Poems about Gerrit Achterberg."
