The Power in Me is a children's picture book that brings together three heartwarming stories about a young Black girl navigating life at home, at school, and within her community. It is designed to empower Black and African girls by promoting confi dence, self-worth, and the strength of embracing who they are. These uplifting stories celebrate family, identity, resilience, and the power of self-belief. The book is ideal for readers aged 3 to 8. Written in simple, child-friendly language, the stories highlight everyday experiences while reinforcing positive messages about belonging and self-worth. As a Black woman and mother, the author struggled to fi nd children's books that truly refl ected her daughter's experiences. Raising a child in Germany with Ethiopian parents brought unique challenges around identity and belonging, which are rarely represented in mainstream children's literature. The Power in Me was inspired by real-life events and written to help fi ll this gap and amplify diverse voices in early childhood storytelling. The book also refl ects the author's deep commitment to literacy development for all children. While access to reading materials has grown, culturally affi rming books for African and Black children remain limited. The Power in Me is both a celebration of representation and a loving contribution to inclusive children's literature.
