Given the increased number of food festivals in Austria, this event format appears to be very popular at present. The aim of this thesis is to find out where this phenomenon comes from and how the concept of such an event is structured, as well as what factors contribute to its success. The empirical study is based on qualitative expert interviews with food festival organisers and trend researchers in this field. A market analysis of Vienna and a critical examination of the event format complete the thesis.
