The education of people with special needs fundamentally seeks to integrate its students into society, making them socially participatory. Special education is crucial in the initial stimulation process for people with Down syndrome, and it is up to special education teachers to work with their students on practices that enable them to develop skills for everyday activities, such as participating in family activities, exercising their rights as citizens, and even engaging in professional activities. Special care must be taken to facilitate and enable greater educational performance and development among students. Children who attend APAE in the municipality of Santa Cruz das Palmeiras/SP show socio-educational advances that satisfy parents, relatives, and friends of those with the syndrome.
