I come from a country where people act very emotionally. Perhaps I am less inclined to do so than they are, but when I look back on this time now, after three and a half years of living in Germany and completing my studies, I think that I was very much guided by my feelings. As a newcomer, the biggest challenge you have to overcome in a job like directing is the struggle with yourself, with the mentality you jump into like cold water, and understanding and accepting it. My concern, apart from the actual work, was to build a creative relationship with the people I worked with. I also focused on how I could assert myself as a director so that I could realise what I wanted to realise.
