*** ALL ROYALTIES WILL BE DONATED TO THE ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION *** Surviving an Unplanned Life offers an insightful and fascinating glimpse into some of the life and times of the author. John Hutchinson's story captures his swift arrival into the world in 1949, his early family life on an isolated farm in the Yorkshire Dales, his school years and meeting the love of his life, leading to an elopement to Scotland. When fate intervened and he found himself embarking on a career in the police service, no one could have predicted the experiences, house moves and decades of working in a colourful range of roles with a plethora of responsibilities. And the author took each and every one in his stride. Post-retirement, the author's civilian career centred on delivering training across a vast range of topics to all levels of the police service until his eventual retirement in 2011. During this time, he worked extensively with and supported several charities: the Saint John's Ambulance Association and the Royal Life Saving Society, and most recently the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Society.
