The incredible story of Ferdinando Valletti, who was arrested by the Nazis in Milan in 1944 for helping organize the March general strike at the Alfa Romeo plant and deported to Mauthausen, and later to Gusen I and Gusen II. After inhuman trials, Valletti managed to save himself thanks to his passion for soccer. Nando was playing for AC Milan, and the SS needed a player for their team. They seized him and ordered him to play. Valletti knew that if he failed, he would be killed instantly, and so, despite his precarious health, he risked everything and succeeded. He played and earned a job that allowed him to help other teammates and save their lives. He returned home in August 1945 and finally met his daughter. Ferdinando Valletti was my father. In 2017, Ferdinando Valletti was declared Righteous Among the Nations.
