The counselor's office was a place of both fear and hope. Scared of what's to come, the young main character struggles with deciding whether or not she should tell a counselor the truth about her step dads abuse. At the last moment, she decides to tell and ends up saving her family. Despite the upheaval-moving, changing schools, and living with family-she was relieved. By telling the truth, their lives changed for the better, and they were finally safe.
