In June of 1865, Thomas, his mentoring professor and a colleague, a medical botanist, venture to the world's largest tropical rainforest - the Amazon. This over 6,000-mile journey takes them from Brazil, west in the vast Amazon Rainforest and then north to Maracaybo. Their mission: to find a plant that can provide lifesaving medicine.
