That fateful attack on the Twin Towers in New York City on September 11, 2001 had aprofound effect not only on the United States of America, but around the world. Many othercountries felt the pain and loss of the Americans and feared their own security could be breechedby terrorism. Upon hearing of this horrific event, my boss closed her business immediately. I rushed topick up my only child from school that morning. My urgent need to snuggle close with her wasoverwhelming! She was confused about my anxiety. How could I possibly explain the gravity of thissituation to a ten-year-old girl who had been raised within a very loving and protective family?I thought my best solution was to watch the television reports with her about the event. When Iasked if she understood what had just taken place, her response was, "Mommy, I don't like thisTV show at all. It's so boring. Can't we watch something fun?" It was then I realized this tragedy should be explained to children in a different approach with the hope of their understanding the seriousness caused by terroristic acts. Hence, my heartfelt creation of 'The Ponderings'
