Quantum A scientist assistant, Nathanial "Nate" Harper helping another Scientist, Dr. Vernon Rhodes with Quantum Spacetime experiments to develop ways to produce power at minimal costs, provide for very long term power storage, and eliminate current production forms that caused planet-wide pollution. Dr. Rhodes begins to used unethical materials and processes that would dangerous to others in general production. Nate makes note of this and verbalizes his fears, threatening to go to the authority who oversees these experiments. Dr. Rhodes does not want to stop his work because the monetary value of what he could produce would greatly benefit him. Nate was now a liability! During a test run of one of subsystems, which was safe to be around, Dr. Rhodes asks Nate to check certain measurements on a monitor across the room. No one else was in the lab. Nate checks the monitor unaware that Dr.Rhodes has the device fully active and aimed at him! After several minutes of adjustments Nate starts back to the control room, only to see Dr. Rhodes standing before the master control as he pressed the activation button. An intense blue beam strikes Nate! He is frozen in spacetime, begins to glow the same color as the beam and then fades away! Perhaps an hour later, Nate awakens in the lab, laying on the floor but propped against a cabinet. The lab is dimly lit. There is a single dim light on in the control room. The air is a bit dusty. Most of the other equipment gone! What little is still there is coated with dust. It looked like the lab and not been in use for months! Standing on shaky legs gave Nate a chance to look at his chest where he was struck. He realize that his lab coat where the beam had hit him was slightly singed at the edges and the area had become brittle. It began to fall apart! His clothes underneath were not affected. he felt no pain or injury, either. Read "Quantum" to find out what happened to Nate and friends!
