Hannah is 14 years old and has lived a difficult life. She hasn't seen her biological mother in years. Both awkward and shy, Hannah is finally able to make some friends at her middle school. She starts to find faith as she visits the Christian school club Elizabeth invited her to attend. There is an unseen realm with both angels and demons affecting the thoughts and actions of Hannah and those around her. Roger, Hannah's dad, has fallen in love with someone new after being a bachelor for a long time. Hannah likes this new woman, but often wonders about her biological mom. While Hannah is unhappy, she wonders if Elizabeth's faith could bring her contentment also.
