Esperanza lives with her close-knit, extended family in a Victorian farmhouse in Amarillo, Texas. On the same day as her older sister Paloma's engagement party, the disappearance of a precious family heirloom turns everyone against each other. As the Obregóns investigate the circumstances of the missing item, suspicion grows that someone (or something) in the house is a cunning saboteur. Eventually, it becomes clear that solving the mystery means understanding what connects the family to their history, their home, and to each other.
