Isabelle Blackburn, born into the royal family of the island of Dumarey, has never wanted to be a princess. Growing up a stone's throw away from a pirate's keep only encouraged her dreams of running away on a sailing ship and onto the high seas. On her thirteenth birthday she runs away to do just that and by age sixteen is the captain of a small vessel, having worked her way up. After an unfortunate encounter with Captain James Hook, she finds herself trapped back on Dumarey only to escape again after two years promising her love to return and bear them away from the castle forever. Three years pass before she returns to find her beloved murdered by the very pirates inhabiting the island. She vows revenge, but when faced with the realities of being forced into a marriage with the captain or returning to her sadistic father's castle and marriage to a man more than twice her age, she faces the choice of having to let go of the past and embrace being a pirate's wife or being trapped into a worse world of the court.
