Old Feilian is an excellent commander of the skies, and Daiyu's half-brothers are filling their new roles nicely in the Yellow Court. But Daiyu's mother is now standing at the side of the God of War, and the Jade Princess doesn't know what to do about that. She's learned everything she knows from her mother, but the former Yellow Empress did not teach her daughter everything that she knows, and now the God of War is going to exploit that. Daiyu has friends in high places, however. Tianlin has vowed to fight and die by her side, prophecy or not, and the young Yellow Court is stronger than it ever has been in the face of certain death. For the first time in a long time, there is a bright future worth looking forward to, if only this war can be ended and peace restored to the lands along the Yellow River. But that peace is going to require great sacrifice. Will Daiyu be able to pay the blood the gods will require, or will death get the last laugh?
