I have written this book with 3 aims: -To show the amateur those chess games that in their time were named by the critics for making a deep impression on the commentators, usually because of the unexpected and profound ideas that tried to give mate, based on sacrifices until a beautiful and artistic checkmate position was achieved. - To make the protagonists known, in some cases very well known players, but in others, nowadays totally anonymous (although in their time they were known by the fans). - To make a typographic experiment, putting different diagrams (some from the period, others as homage) thus forcing the reader to keep his attention for unusual diagrams and to have to reconstruct them in his mind and also to allow to follow the game without a board, with diagrams every 4 or 5 moves.I hope the reader will enjoy these chess games and the characters depicted.
