The DES concepts are derived from a compendium of over 300 to 400 medical articles over a three-year period. The topics of diet, exercise, and stress reduction can become quite complex and at times controversial. Some studies confirm certain observations and other studies seem to contradict them. We have attempted to wade through this sea of information to make it as simple and easy to understand as possible. The most important aspect of weight reduction is understanding why we gain weight and identifying any obstacles standing in the way of achieving this goal. By analyzing and organizing the science behind it and presenting it in an easy-to-understand manner, we developed these 95 concepts or ideas, to serve as a guide to make the necessary lifestyle changes.
