The night that things came crashing down, I couldn't sleep. I rolled around in the bed feeling scared. I knew something was wrong; I could feel it. Then the phone rang. The woman on the phone told me to get to Vallejo General Hospital if I wanted to see my husband alive. I froze and did not answer right away. When I managed to talk, I screamed, "I would be there right away."I ran around trying to get dressed. I was crying and a complete mess. I finally was dressed and remembered I had to have keys. Then I found them. I woke my mother and told her to take care of the boys and that I would call her as soon as I could.I ran for the car and couldn't fit the key in the lock. Finally, it went in, and I started the car. Things from there were a blur. That was really hard, and I was so upset, I just pushed away from her and screamed, "I want to see my husband!" They took me to the emergency room, where he lay on a bed, and to my horror, there was blood everywhere...
