SoulTina is an eight-year-old Afro-Latina girl with a big heart and the ability to channel her grandmother's wisdom. When faced with tough situations in her urban community, she becomes The Peace Doctor. She uses empathy, inner strength, and culturally relevant strategies to help herself and her friends handle challenges. The series focuses on creating cycles of peace and guiding young readers in resolving conflicts realistically and compassionately, with a special emphasis on the experiences of Black and Latino children. Each book explores various emotions and solutions through storytelling, thought-provoking questions, and fun activities.The Power Within explores themes including anger, grief, emotional intelligence, and community healing. SoulTina navigates real-life challenges with her classmates and uses her Peace Doctor skills to help them manage difficult emotions after Aaron gets really angry about a missed foul call during a playground basketball game.
